Automation and cost advantage: CEE could become a strategic hub in European logistics

Competitive cost levels, advanced infrastructure and the growing spread of automation could together create an environment that makes Central and Eastern Europe attractive for industrial and logistics investments in the long term, according to experts speaking at iO Partners’ regional client event. They noted that Hungary, thanks to its geographic location and industrial base, could further strengthen its role as one of the region’s key distribution hubs.

Central and Eastern Europe is playing an increasingly important role in Europe’s industrial and logistics networks. The region is no longer seen merely as a source of cost advantages for companies; it is increasingly positioned as a strategic location for organising production and distribution, as highlighted in presentations by experts from Miebach Consulting and iO Partners. The region’s economic weight has grown significantly in recent years, driven by a combination of factors: proximity to Western European markets, the development of infrastructure needed for industrial investments, as well as a skilled workforce and relatively lower operating costs.
